2012

By 2012, my approach to live performance had become, well, entirely about performance. I was so absorbed in the concept of free improvisation that I refused to allow myself to do anything that didn't push my mind and approach to extremes. That didn't mean being flashy — sometimes it just meant playing a set where my only action was to press a button. It was in 2012, I think, that Readers did our first and only performance. We were an ensemble where everyone would bring a book and we'd stand on stage and read silently in front of an audience. That's where my mind was at.
